NMI President’s Annual Report

NMI Contact Information

Jaeson Rogers was elected Intermountain District’s NMI President in 2019.  He has a desire to help our district churches engage in cross-cultural ministry more intentionally, relationally, and strategically. The challenges of 2020 may have impacted how we engage, such as using online conferencing tools to connect, but it has not deterred the relational focus or intentionality of our local churches. In 2021 we are hopeful for familiar doors to reopen and build upon that with the creativity we’ve learned to employ during the pandemic.

When Jesus said “go and make make disciples of all nations” (Matt 28:19 NIV), he was telling believers to mobilize; be an active part of sharing the Good News with all peoples. Statistically, few of us will actually go elsewhere in the world to preach the Gospel, but we all must be actively involved in financially supporting, encouraging, praying for, caring for, and empowering those who do. We must also be good welcomers, building genuine relationships with those who come from around the world to live within our midst.

Jaeson and his wife, Cyndi, are members of Nampa’s College Church.  They have 4 children and soon to have their 13th grandchild (May 2021). Of these beautiful gifts, 11 are little girls, plus 2 boys.

Work & Witness News

The District’s NMI Council and W&W Coordinator are intentionally focused on identifying areas of our world where there is greatest need for ministry to unreached peoples, and opportunities for a Vision Team to go, learn, and builds strategic relationships that open doors to sharing the Gospel.  Please share with us your ideas and stay tuned for more information…

Nazarene Compassionate Ministries

Did you know that NMI and the local church are the hands and feet for Nazarene Compassionate Ministries (NCM)?  We should be ready to support the opportunities NCM brings to us, whether it be fighting Human Trafficking, promoting Child Sponsorships, engaging in service to Refugee & Immigrant communities, and more.

Our District Representative for NCM is Pastor Dave Tish, who also is now a member of the District NMI Council.  I have committed to Dave that NMI will work hand-in-hand with NCM to minister to local needs.

S.T.O.P. (Sex Trafficking Opposition Partnership) Endowment

The founders of S.T.O.P. partnered with the Nazarene Planned Giving Foundation to set up the endowment with Legacy.Nazarenefoundation.Org, a licensed 501c3 non-profit.  Donations go directly into the Foundation’s “S.T.O.P. Endowment”, which is invested by Nazarene Foundation board of directors in compliance with the Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act (UPMIFA).  90% of the interest income goes directly to Nazarene Compassionate Ministries Anti-trafficking, and 10% will be invested back into the S.T.O.P. Endowment to help it grow.

Please watch this video (3:47) and consider donating to the S.T.O.P. Endowment (Sex Trafficking Opposition Partners) to support Nazarene efforts to defeat Sex Trafficking and help restore the dignity and health of its victims.

Work & Witness Conference 2021

After many successful years of being sponsored by the Oregon-Pacific District and held in Portland, OR, the conference was making a transition to Nampa, Idaho, and the Northwest Nazarene University campus, when the pandemic struck and all plans were interrupted. There is a great desire to continue providing these conferences, but there remains uncertainty about gathering and restrictions on travel. Therefore, separate conference planning committees have  decided to join efforts and provide a combined USA/Canada Regional Work & Witness Conference in the Fall of 2021.

W&W Conferences are a wonderful opportunity for mission education and connecting with out missionaries around the world, and the Interactive Virtual Platform that will be used can allow attendees to engage in sideline chats and participate in workshops of their choosing.  The virtual conference will be open to anyone from the USA/Canada region, so no capacity limits.

More details will be coming in the months ahead, but please read the attached flyer and use this Registration link to complete your free W&W Conference registration!

Mission Call
One of the 5 Key Areas of Impact for NMI is that of Engaging Children and youth.  If you are (or know) a youth or college-aged person that feels called to involvement in missions, we would like to for you to fill out this form so we can know a little bit about you, pray for you, answer questions about missions or missionary life, and help in the journey of discovering where God may be calling you to serve.

Intermountain District NMI Fall Tour
Due to the pandemic challenges of 2020 and continued uncertainties about safe gathering, there will be no Fall Tour again in 2021.  However, with a steadfast focus your NMI Council is working on providing streaming events to provide training to new and seasoned local NMI Presidents to aid in understanding the roles, responsibilities, and opportunities of NMI.  We are also looking to re-address our Good Neighbor efforts to provide effective cross-cultural training, materials and engagement opportunities. Your input is always welcomed. Send ideas and feedback to the District NMI Council.
