Affordable housing is a significant issue for many families. After considering how they might best use a plot of land across an alleyway from the rest of the church's property, Lakeview Church of the Nazarene in Nampa decided to donate it for affordable housing through the LEAP nonprofit organization. LEAP will build an affordable single-family home on the land, but will retain ownership of the land to ensure that the property will remain "dedicated to affordable housing in perpetuity."
LEAP's initiative is called "Yes In God's Back Yard" (YIGBY), which connects with Lakeview's mission to be disciples, to make disciples, and to love their neighbors. "This is a way we can respond, as Christ-followers, to an actual need that's in our area."
