"Connecting the Church"

My passion is to connect people with God and each other, but have been frustrated by the difficulty in seeing that dream actualized in our local church setting. Randy has his finger on the pulse and solution to the problem that many churches are facing. We live in an “individualistic” culture that has seeped into the church and eroded the foundation to form real community. The irony of this individualism is that there is an innate need for community that we are trying to fill by shallow consumerism.
I found this book to be a must read for pastors. It is an easy read, but you may want to read it slowly in order to allow some thought for creating an indigenous plan for change. I would even be inclined to create a series of sermons to bring our congregations attention to the obstacles to biblical community and how we might create a new paradigm that will help us to do life together.
